What is a Personal Support Worker?

A Personal Support Worker or PSW is an individual who is certified to perform personal care duties, transfers, lifts, etc. They are typically involved in both personal care tasks and incidental activities of daily living, such as housekeeping, meal preparation, socialization, and companionship.

What is an Unregulated Care Provider (UCP)?

The term "Unregulated Care Provider" (UCP) refers to an unregulated employee who performs various tasks traditionally attributed to regulated professionals.

It is common for UCPs to administer routine medications to residents in retirement, group, and home care settings under the supervision of Registered Nurses.  

Do you screen your team members?

Yes, our caregivers, PSWs, and UCPs are CPR and have First Aid training.  They have a Vulnerable Sector Police/Criminal Record Check. Your safety is paramount to us. Our mature personnel are professional, tactful, educated and skilled in communications. These qualities we seek in those we trust to offer services to seniors and others. Our mandate is to treat clients with dignity and respect and to provide families respite without worry.

Is there a 'minimum' time for a shift?

Yes, however, we invite you to speak with us first as every individual has a special circumstance where flexible scheduling can be accommodated.

Do you ensure a substitute standby worker to prevent absence?

Ideal Caregivers 4u strives to provide consistent care for every client. In times of provider absence, every effort will be made to ensure coverage is maintained with a familiar team member or one that matches the qualities and level of care expected.

What measures are your team members taking to protect against COVID-19?

The health and safety of our team and our clients are always our top priority.

During this global pandemic, we are taking additional steps to help keep everyone safe.

All team members have completed training on "Understanding Coronavirus" and "Battling COVID-19 in 2021" courses. Each team member wears all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE ). 

Daily health screenings for all team members before entering our clients' homes or retirement homes.

What training do you provide your team members?

Every team member undergoes initial training to provide our clients with the utmost care and support, ranging from meal assistance to Alzheimer’s Disease training. Our team members are recognized by the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County as Dementia-Trained Inclusive staff. We also provide Specialist training in Alzheimer’s, Palliative Care, Behavioural health, Diabetes, and more!
