Daylight Saving Time & Sundowning

It's that time of year again when we change our clocks in an effort to "save daylight". This weekend, we turn the clock back one hour ending Daylight Saving Time. This can have very serious effects on our senior population, especially those living with Alzheimer's or dementia.

Many of us are affected by the change in season, however, for those with Alzheimer's and dementia, this time of year may increase their anxiety and confusion, and lead to behaviors such as aggression and wandering.

Below are some tips to consider when helping your elderly loved one to manage the upcoming changes.

If you would like to learn more about Sundowning, visit our blog post here. We at Ideal Caregivers 4u have qualified and trained Alzehimer's specialists on our team and would be happy to connect with you regarding care services for your loved one. Call us anytime at 613-769-1669.
