Ingredients
3 cups Flour
1 ½ cup Unsalted Butter
1 ½ cup Finely crushed Walnut or Pistachio
5 tbsp. Sugar
Pinch of Salt
2 tsp Orange Blossom, or Rose Water, or Whisky or Cognac Liquid – for taste
1 cup Icing Sugar for covering Balls
Directions
Leave butter outside at room temperature to soften while preparing the recipe.
Take the butter and soften it with your hand in a bowl.
In a large mixing bowl, stir in flour, salt, and butter. Once crumbly, add the sugar, walnuts, the 2 tsp. of flavoured liquid and mix well.
Turned into a dough start forming into small balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees, approx. 10 minutes. Check if done by lifting the balls and see if they’re slightly brown. Use also a toothpick on a few of the balls – if they come out clean they are done, otherwise, leave them in for a couple of minutes longer.
Remove them from the oven and set them on a rack to cool.
When cookies are warm to the touch take one at a time and roll or sprinkle with Icing Sugar.
Perfect to make ahead and freeze in a container layered with Parchment paper.
