Spring is finally here! Warmer weather, longer daylight hours, blooming flowers and trees, and of course the appearance of those adorable (and often pesky) critters - butterflies, bees, and bunnies!
For today's senior activity, we thought it would be fun to create our own cute critters using household items and some crafting supplies and your own creativity!
Cute Critters
Here what you need:
1 (or more) toilet paper roll - or cardboard roll from paper towels, cut in half
Craft paint, your choice of colours depending on critter choice
Markers or pencil crayons
Craft paper, your choice of colours depending on critter choice
Accessories, such as googly eyes, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, stickers, etc.
Craft glue
Here's what to do:
Begin by deciding what animal or insect you would like to create!
Choose colours of craft paper, paint or markers, and accessories needed. Set aside.
Using the cardboard roll, either paint or cover with craft paper (secure with glue or even tape). Let dry fully, if using paint.
While drying, begin to cut shapes needed for your design, such as triangles for beaks, circles for faces, or thin rectangles for antennae or whiskers! Or use our basic template for a butterfly or bee design!
You may also decide what accessories can be used, such as pipe cleaners for whiskers or antennae or pom-poms for noses!
Once choices have been made and cut out, begin assembling your critter by gluing each piece on the cardboard roll! Make sure everything is fully dry before displaying.
