On this day in 2015, Queen Elizabeth became Great Britain's longest-reigning monarch at 63 years and seven months, beating the previous record set by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria.
Sadly, yesterday she passed away in her summer home at Balmoral Castle. Queen Elizabeth II was the only monarch Britons have ever known. Her 73-year-old son Prince Charles automatically became king upon her death and will be known as King Charles III.
We recommend spending time with your elderly loved ones today to talk about the impact her role in history has made on their generation.
